The EBA and the Business and Technology University (BTU) hosted the third large-scale Stakeholder Meeting within the framework of the EU-funded “Women Mentorship in Tech Programmes” project. The event aimed to bring together project stakeholders and beneficiaries to discuss improving ICT skills and career opportunities for women in Georgia.
The Stakeholder Meeting featured keynote speeches from esteemed figures such as Ms Nana Ramazashvili, Programme Officer for Digitalization of the European Union to Georgia; Prof. Dr. Nino Enukidze, Rector of the Business and Technology University, and Ms. Nino Esakia, Co-Chair of the Digital Committee, European Business Association.
The 3rd Stakeholder Meeting addressed key aspects of the project’s goals, including improving ICT skills and career opportunities for women in Georgia, as well as empowering women in tech by highlighting achievements and future directions. Mentees and industry representatives discussed potential updates to the training process to ensure impact-driven outcomes.
The EU-funded “Women Mentorship in Tech Programmes” project in Georgia aims to engage 1,100 beneficiaries and 320 mentors over three seasons. It promotes regional diversity by selecting at least one-third of participants from regions outside the capital.
Five-month-long mentorship sessions are organised in five key tech directions, including cybersecurity, front-end development, graphic design, digital marketing, and UX/UI design. The project’s first session started in July, involving 100 mentees and 70 mentors selected based on a fair and transparent selection process.
This first phase is set to conclude in December 2024, with all 100 mentees completing the mentorship program.
The project emphasises both hard and soft skills development, empowering women to compete in local and international job markets. The initiative contributes to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and economic growth, and Partnerships to achieve the Goals.
Currently, 100 mentees and 70 mentors are participating in the training, completing five tech pathways through intensive sessions.
The event gathered diverse participants, including stakeholders, experts, mentors/lecturers, potential partner companies, and individuals dedicated to advancing gender equality and digital inclusion in Georgia.
