The first working meeting of the Trade Facilitation Committee

EBA hosted the first working meeting of the Trade Facilitation Committee at the USAID Economic Governance Program Office. The session was a significant milestone, setting a strong foundation for future advancements in trade facilitation.
 
The meeting commenced with welcoming remarks from John Braeckeveldt, President of the EBA, Maya Eristavi, Civil Society Strengthening Component Lead at the USAID Economic Governance Program and Annelies Vanwymelbeke, Team Leader on Green Deal, Connectivity, Economic, and Investment Plan at the EU Delegation to Georgia.
 
John Braeckeveldt then introduced the EBA Trade Facilitation Committee and its structure, followed by the introduction and voting for co-chair candidates. Elena Inasaridze, Managing Director at Royal Dutch LV Logistics Georgia, and Ilona Kardava, Quality Manager at Gianti Logistics, were elected as the co-chairs of the committee through a voting process.
 
Geoff Wright, Chief of Party for the USAID Middle Corridor Transportation and Logistics Program, delivered a presentation on the support available for Georgian logistics companies, providing valuable context and direction for future initiatives.
 
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive discussion and planning session, where attendees engaged in strategic conversations to outline the committee’s direction and next steps.
