Maya Kobalia – The head of EBA Women’s Economic Empowerment Committee

Her journey is as inspiring as it is global. Currently serving as the Head of Environmental and Social (E&S) Development of the Microbank Crystal, Maya is a tireless advocate for women’s empowerment and sustainability. Her dedication to creating real impact was recognized on the world stage when she became the first UN Global Compact SDG Pioneer from Georgia – a trailblazer for sustainable development.

Maya is a proud Buzz Women Global Changemaker, using her platform to uplift women and communities through financial inclusion and behavioral change. Her leadership and curiosity have taken her around the world – from studying in Estonia, Germany, and Poland, to cooperating with international organizations  like – ADB, UN Women, FMO, UN Global Compact, OECD, MFC, Global Banking Alliance for Women, e-MFP Luxembourg, CAREC, and many more – around the globe.

She’s an alumna of the:

– Vital Voices Leadership Program, Co-founded by Hillary Clinton, Madelleine Albright, Melanne Verveer and other trailblazer women,

– of the U.S. Open World Leadership Program,

– and of the intensive executive program “Leadership Excellence: Driving Organizational Change and Success”, developed by Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education, where she deepened her commitment to women’s empowerment and empathetic leadership.

Ms. Kobalia is also a storyteller, and a passionate voice for gender equality, known for her captivating stage presence, eloquence, and deep commitment to social impact. When she’s not hosting events or championing sustainability, you’ll find Maya reviewing leadership and behavioral science books or playing the piano and guitar—always finding new ways to inspire and be inspired.
