In Conversation with Paul Pohi: Redefining Hospitality and Golf Tourism in Georgia

As part of our #ebahospitality initiative, the European Business Association (EBA) sits down with industry leaders who are shaping the future of tourism, service, and economic growth across the region.

Today, we are delighted to feature Paul Pohi, Director of Golf at Tbilisi Hills Golf & Residences, to discuss his passion for welcoming global visitors, Georgia’s rising position as a premier travel destination, and the unique appeal of Tbilisi Hills.

To kick things off, what inspired your personal journey into hospitality, and what do you enjoy most about welcoming international guests?

Paul Pohi: “What inspires me most about hospitality is the opportunity to communicate, build meaningful international connections and see the positive impact of our work. I particularly enjoy welcoming guests who are discovering Georgia for the first time and helping create experiences that exceed their expectations. Seeing our destination grow, and knowing that we are contributing to that development, is very rewarding.”

From your perspective, what makes Georgia a must-visit destination for European travelers, and why is now the ideal time to explore the country?

“Georgia offers European travelers a rare combination of authentic culture, remarkable cuisine, breathtaking landscapes and genuinely warm hospitality. It remains relatively undiscovered and uncrowded, allowing visitors to enjoy meaningful and personal experiences. With improving accessibility and a rapidly developing tourism offering, it is the perfect time to discover Georgia while it still retains its distinctive character and authenticity.”

Finally, what unique story, service, or experience sets Tbilisi Hills apart as an ultimate destination for European visitors?

“Tbilisi Hills offers a truly distinctive experience: a world-class, internationally ranked golf course located only a short drive from Tbilisi’s historic Old Town. Guests can now enjoy two exceptional golf courses in Tbilisi with panoramic views and then experience the culture, cuisine and vibrant atmosphere of the capital—all within the same day. This unique combination of championship golf, Georgian hospitality and easy access to one of Europe’s most fascinating cities makes Tbilisi Hills an outstanding destination for European visitors.”

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Paul Pohi for taking the time to share his valuable insights with us and for his ongoing commitment to elevating Georgia’s hospitality and sports tourism landscape.
