Hospitality as a Lifestyle: A Conversation with Maka Tskhomelidze

For our latest #ebahospitality feature, the European Business Association (EBA) sits down with Maka Tskhomelidze, Cluster Director of Sales for Swissôtel Tbilisi & Mercure Tbilisi Old Town. With over a quarter-century of dedication to premium service, Maka shares how genuine care defines her approach, why Georgia continues to captivate global travelers, and what makes these two landmark Accor properties exceptional destinations for European visitors.

Reflecting on your 26-year career in the industry, how would you define your personal approach to service and welcoming guests?

Maka Tskhomelidze: “When you love what you do, then it should come as no surprise that your work eventually evolves into a way of living. Looking back on my 26-year career in the hospitality field, I now recognize that service was not a job as much as a way of living. Hospitality is my lifestyle! It is waking up in the morning, taking time to choose the appropriate attire, adorning a smile to brighten everyone’s day.

Showing genuine, attentive care towards others without expecting recognition or reward is not only a fulfilling approach to life, but it brings purpose and balance.”

What makes Georgia such a compelling destination for European travelers, and why is now the time to visit?

“Why Georgia : Unique historical culture, completely different architecture and 8,000 years of wine-processing traditions. A great opportunity for adventure-loving travelers.

Amazing nature, with year-round gateway possibilities across four seasons, and culinary adventures in every region. Warm, hospitable, and heartwarming people, with a welcoming attitude toward guests—because we call every guest – “Stumari a gift from God.”

During last few years, Georgia has become one of the favorite places among tourists. Many people visit the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi for business or leisure. Discover one of the oldest cities in the world”
