As part of the European Business Association’s #ebahospitality series, we highlight the leaders who shape first impressions and lasting memories for international visitors arriving in Georgia.
In this feature, we sit down with Madona Megrelishvili, General Manager of ibis Tbilisi Airport, to discuss the journey of building a hotel from pre-opening to success, the art of cultural fusion in service, and how an airport hotel can serve as a welcoming sanctuary for global travelers.
Looking back at your career, what initially drew you to hotel management, and what drives your passion for hosting international visitors?
Madona Megrelishvili: “Building a hotel from the pre-opening stage into a successful business has been the most inspiring part of my career. Hospitality is deeply rooted in Georgian culture, but what truly excites me about welcoming international guests is the opportunity to create a meaningful fusion—combining our genuine warmth with respect for each guest’s unique culture and heritage. For me, every product and service we create is simply a vehicle for emotion. Delivering an authentic, heartfelt experience that stays with our guests long after they leave is the most rewarding part of what I do.”
In your view, what makes Georgia such an attractive choice for European travelers, and why is this the ideal moment to explore the country?
“Georgia is a unique destination with a rich history, delicious food, beautiful nature, and warm hospitality. It is only a few hours’ flight from many European cities. Now is the perfect time to visit because Georgia offers both authentic traditions and modern tourism services. Visitors can enjoy local culture while feeling comfortable and welcome.”
How does ibis Tbilisi Airport redefine the traditional airport hotel experience for both leisure and business guests?
“ibis Tbilisi Airport offers the trusted quality of the Accor brand in a convenient location next to Georgia’s main international airport. We are more than just an airport hotel. We provide a comfortable and relaxing stay for both business and leisure travelers. Our guests enjoy international standards, friendly service, and genuine Georgian hospitality from the moment they arrive.”
The European Business Association extends its sincere appreciation to Madona Megrelishvili for sharing her insights and leading with passion at one of Georgia’s key travel hubs.
